Taking To The Sky!

Having recently completed my degree, I actually found time to launch a rocket this weekend. Footage of my launch was taken by my father and is shown below. Hopefully I will get to fly something larger next month!

BBC Backstage

Sometime last year I discovered BBC Backstage, a selection of feeds and resources provided by the BBC for developers. Having re-discovered these pages recently, I decided it would be fun to integrate one of the traffic feeds with Google Maps. My attempt at plotting the Southampton feed can be found here. The main interface is written in XHTML and AJAX, whilst a PHP script running in the background parses the TPEG feed provided by the BBC and outputs XML data containing a list of traffic problems.

Wii Compatible!

I have recently had the pleasure of testing my website on a Nintendo Wii and was pleasantly surprised to find that it viewed perfectly. This now brings my list of compatible browsers up to 16 (22 different versions), all of which are listed here.
The Wii browser is built upon the Opera web browser and supports AJAX & Flash (V7). Having done quite a bit of Flash development in my time, I have been playing with the idea of streaming music to the Wii. Currently I have built a simple Flash movie to stream radio from Pure FM, the radio station at my university. My first attempt (Which also incorporates their webcam) can be viewed here . The mp3 stream is 64Kbps and the webcam is set to update every 10 seconds.

Revitalised

I’ve finally found some time to re-design my website. I am now running a combination of Wordpress 2.04 & Gallery 2.1.2 with a few custom mods to make it all work smoothly.
Please be patient whilst I get it all up and running, I have a few 100Mb of photos to be uploaded.
